Missing Alexandria Man Located

A missing Alexandria man suffering from dementia has been located. Montgomery County police found John P. “Jack” Steele, unharmed, at a Bethesda area shopping center Sunday night. He has since been reunited with his family.

Mr. Steele went for a walk Saturday afternoon and when he did not return home, friends called police. Officers had conducted an extensive search in the West End of Alexandria with assistance from the Fairfax County police helicopter and bloodhound.

It is not known how Mr. Steele traveled from Alexandria to Bethesda.

Alexandria police gratefully acknowledge the assistance of Fairfax County and Montgomery County police in ensuring Mr. Steele’s safe return.
