Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services For Monday, July 4, in Observance of Independence Day Alexandria City government offices will be closed on Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. All City recreation centers will be closed Monday, July 4, except for Chinquapin Park Recreation Center, which will be open from 8 am to 5 pm on Monday. City libraries will be closed on Monday, July 4. DASH bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday, July 4. State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on July 4. The Alexandria Office on Women emergency hotlines, will be fully staffed and running on Monday, July 4. The domestic violence hotline, 703.838.4911, and sexual assault hotline, 703.683.7273, as with all Office on Women hotlines run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Finance and Treasury Offices will be closed Saturday, July 2 and Monday, July 4. In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking limits on July 4. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Monday, July 4. Alexandria will celebrate Independence Day and Alexandria’s 256th birthday on Saturday, July 9, from 6 to 10:30 pm at Oronoco Bay Park, 7 N. Lee St. Performers that will be featured include the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra. The grand final fireworks display will take place at 10 pm.
