Public Invited to Attend
2nd Annual Water Friendly Garden Tour

The public is invited to attend the 2nd Annual Water Friendly Garden Tour on Sunday, June 5, from 1 to 5 pm at selected sites in Northern Virginia. The free tour will feature 14 sites with landscaping practices designed to enhance wildlife habitat, promote conservation, provide water quality benefit, and reduce the volume and velocity of rainwater, which has caused substantial erosion in area streams.

The tour is sponsored by the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, the City of Falls Church, the Potomac Conservancy, and Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment. The Spring Creek Foundation is providing funding for the tour.

Interested participants may begin the self-guided tour at one of three locations. Alexandria residents are encouraged to start the tour at City Council Member Rob Krupicka’s house where they will see rain barrels, a grass driveway, compost area, and water-loving vegetation.

For a comprehensive listing of the tour sites, call the City’s Division of Environmental Quality at 703.519.3400, extension 166; or visit ci.alexandria.va.us/tes/eq/whatsnew.html.
