Alexandria's Chinquapin Park Recreation Center
Offers Summer Preschool Fun


The City of Alexandria's Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will offer the "Chinqua-Venture" preschool fun for children, ages 2.5 to 6 years, each month during the summer. Preschoolers will enjoy theme learning through interactive hands-on play using music and movement, storytelling, and crafts.

Teddy Bear Picnic (Thursday, June 23, 10 am - noon) - Children can bring in their favorite stuffed bear or friend to share in the cooking experience. Preschoolers will learn to make their own bag lunches, snacks, and beverages as part of the program. The fee is $8 per child. A $3 supply fee per child is paid to the instructor at the beginning of the program. Pre-registration is required.

Let's Have a Ball (Thursday, July 7, 10 am - noon) - Preschoolers will celebrate the summer with colorful fun that features indoor parachutes and large and small ball games. The fee is $8 per child. A $3 supply fee per child is paid to the instructor at the beginning of the program. Pre-registration is required.

Bug Safari (Monday, Aug. 1, 10 am - noon) - Preschoolers will become young scientists and explore the world of insects. Children will receive their official bug cage for their outdoor expedition. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $8 per child. A $3 supply fee per child is paid to the instructor at the beginning of the program. Pre-registration is required.

Caregivers must be present during the entire program for a child who does not separate well or still needs to be potty trained. All caregivers must be present during the last 30 minutes of the program to help children with crafts. Additional preschool programs are being planned for the fall and will be listed in the City's Fall 2005 Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities Program Guide.
