“Unrehearsed Photography” Exhibit at Durant Center

Empowered Women International presents "Unrehearsed Photography," an exhibition that takes an intimate look at Iranian culture and explores two decades of theater photography, at the Dr. Oswald Durant Center, 1605 Cameron St., Alexandria. Entrance to the exhibit is free and open to the public, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 10 pm through May 22.

"Unrehearsed Photography" features work by Fataneh Dadkhah, an Iranian photographer whose work depicts post-revolutionary Iran.

Founded in 2002 by Romanian immigrant Marga C. Fripp, Empowered Women International provides a network of support and creates opportunities for immigrant and refugee women in the Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. metropolitan area by using the arts as tools of empowerment, communication, cultural understanding, and entrepreneurship.

The exhibition is cosponsored by Empowered Women International, A Women's Story Gallery and the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities' Durant Center. The Durant Center is the City's only recreation center designed with an arts focus. For additional information, call Harold Little, Center Director, at 703.519.3494.
