Alexandria Holds Earth Day Celebration

The City of Alexandria will hold an Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 30, from 9 am to noon at the Four Mile Run Park, 3700 Commonwealth Ave. The annual event will include family-oriented environmental activities, Arbor Day tree planting and tree symposium, invasive plant identification and removal, environmental exhibits and displays, and live animal exhibits. Admission is free.

Alexandria’s Earth Day Celebration is sponsored by the City’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities and Department of Transportation & Environmental Services; the Alexandria Environmental Policy Commission; and the Alexandria Volunteer Bureau.

Persons attending the event are encouraged to park at the Cora Kelly Elementary School, 3600 Commonwealth Ave., or use public transportation. In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be relocated to the Cora Kelly Recreation Center, 25 West Reed Ave.
