Alexandria Hosts 28th Annual Memorial Day Jazz Festival


The City of Alexandria will host the 28th Annual Memorial Day Jazz Festival on Monday, May 30, from 1 to 7 pm at the Fort Ward Park, 4301 W. Braddock Rd. Radio personality Vanniece Johnson of WJZW “Smooth Jazz” 105.9 will serve as this year’s master of ceremonies. The festival will feature music by the Kaleidoscope Orchestra, Yvonne Johnson, the Larry Brown Quintet, Al Williams, the James Bazen Big Band, and others.

Lawn chairs and blankets will be allowed in the park for grass seating. Vendors will provide food for purchase, and attendees can bring picnic baskets. No alcoholic beverages are allowed, and pets must be left at home.

Parking for the event will be available on West Braddock Road. Additional parking and shuttles to and from the festival will be located at the Minnie Howard School, 3801 W. Braddock Rd., and T.C. Williams High School, 3330 King St. If it rains, the festival will be relocated to the Lee Center’s Kauffman Auditorium, 1108 Jefferson St.
