Alexandria’s Beatley Central Library
Celebrates 5th Anniversary Library Week


Alexandria’s Beatley Central Library, 5005 Duke St., is celebrating its 5th Anniversary Library Week in early April. The Friends of Beatley Central is kicking off the celebration with a Book Sale on Saturday, April 9, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm; Sunday, April 10, 1 to 4:30 pm; and Monday, April 11, 9 am to 9 pm.

On Tuesday, April 12 at 4 pm, visitors to Beatley ages 5 and up will be educated and entertained by Reptile World with Michael Shwedick. Intrepid nature lovers can meet an alligator and a crocodile (and learn the difference), a python, a milksnake, a timber rattlesnake, and an Indian cobra, and many more.

The Irish Breakfast Band will perform from 11 until noon on Saturday, April 16. Dancing will be allowed in the Library. Beginning at 2 pm on April 16, teenagers can get creative in a Drawing/Comics Workshop with Graphic Artist Forrest Young, for students in grades 6 and up.
