For Immediate Release March 9, 2005 PIO 068-05/bg Alexandria’s Chinquapin Recreation Center Celebrates 20 Years with Open House An Open House is scheduled on Saturday, March 26, 1-3 pm, at Alexandria’s Chinquapin Park Recreation Center to kick off a year-long 20th anniversary celebration. The Chinquapin Recreation Center has been in operation at 3210 King St. since 1985. Admission to the event and use of the facility is free on March 26. Activities planned for the day include the following: • Free swim in the Dr. Robert S. Rixse Memorial Pool • Screening tests for determining levels of swimming ability • Lifeguard demonstration of skills and training techniques • Registration for spring and summer classes and camps • Play racquetball or walleyball • Use of equipment in fitness room • Refreshments The Chinquapin Center staff will be available to answer questions about the facility and programs. Door prize drawings for a pass to the Chinquapin Center will be held at 2 and 3 pm. Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult; children 13 years of age and older must have identification from school. No one under 16 years of age is permitted in the fitness room.
