Alexandria City Council Plans
Work Session With Congressman Moran

The Alexandria City Council will hold its annual work session with Congressman James P. Moran on Friday, March 4, to discuss federal issues of concern to the City. The meting will be held at 8:15 am in the Council workroom, 2nd floor of City Hall, 301 King St.

The meeting’s discussion will focus on two related areas: reductions proposed in President Bush’s budget for programs important to Alexandria, and specific purposes for which the City would appreciate federal funding. Topics will include funding for first responders - mobile computers for first-line responders; ways to help Alexandria’s children; projects to make the City more transit and pedestrian-friendly; funding for bicycle and multi-use trails; sewer improvements to help clean up the Chesapeake Bay; maintaining and restoring cultural resources; and federal funding for Homeland Security.
