Plans Underway for Alexandria Citizens Academy
Plans are underway for the City of Alexandria’s first, pilot session of a Citizens Academy. The City Council was advised last night, Feb. 22, that the first class will begin on April 28 and will meet once a week for two hours for eight weeks. Most classes will be held in City Hall.

The Academy is designed to help citizens learn the structure, functions and activities of the Alexandria City government, to encourage citizens to become involved, and to enhance citizens’ ability to communicate effectively with City officials.

City Council members will select participants for the 21-member pilot session which will conclude with a graduation ceremony at the City Council’s June 28 meeting. Two or three sessions of the Academy will be held each year.
