Alexandria Seeks Grant Proposals for Youth Fund
Grant Annually Supports Activities for Local Youth

Alexandria is seeking grant proposals from private, non-profit organizations and community groups for the City of Alexandria’s Youth Fund. The annual grant supports a wide range of activities for local youth, ages 6 to 21. Proposals for the award should focus on and reinforce the Developmental Asset approach produced by the Search Institute of Minneapolis, MN. Proposals must be submitted to the City’s Office of Youth Services, 2525 Mt. Vernon Ave., by 5 pm on Thursday, March 31.

The Youth Fund, which was established by the City Council in May 2001, is a competitive grant that seeks to mobilize organizations and institutions to take action around a shared understanding of positive asset development in local youth. Awards for the fifth year of the fund will be announced on or before June 30 for the funding period of Oct. 1, 2005 through Sept. 30, 2006.

For more information, call Ronald H. Frazier of the City’s Office of Youth Services at 703.838.0990 or visit alexandriava.gov.
