Alexandria Police Seek Identity of Bank Robber

The Alexandria Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are attempting to identify the person who robbed a bank in Old Town Alexandria nearly one month ago. Investigators are releasing a photo from the bank’s security camera with the hope that someone will recognize the robber.

Around 1:30 p.m., on January 19, the suspect entered the Cardinal Bank at 1737 King Street and approached the teller. The suspect demanded money and the victim teller complied. The suspect then fled from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 40s, 5-feet 7-inches tall, clean-shaven, with a medium build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black leather jacket and carrying a brown briefcase.

A Crime solvers reward of up to $1000 is available to anyone providing information leading to an arrest or indictment. Anyone recognizing the suspect or having information about this incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703-838-4711 or Alexandria Crime solvers at 703-838-4858.
