Crash Victim Dies

A woman who was critically injured in a Christmas Day crash died last night. Juli Ann Woodbury, 48, of Alexandria, was pronounced dead on Monday, January 3, at 10:36 p.m. at Washington Hospital Center.

The accident, which was alcohol-related, occurred just after 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 25, at the intersection of North Beauregard and North Armistead streets. The victim was riding in a 1991 Toyota Celica that was traveling south on North Beauregard Street when the driver lost control and struck a tree.

The driver, Juan Jose Torres Majia, was not injured. Torres Majia, 26, of 432 North Armistead Street, #302, in Alexandria, was arrested. He was charged that day with Driving While Intoxicated (Second Offense) and is being held without bond at the Alexandria jail. Additional charges are pending due to the death of the victim.

This is the third traffic fatality in Alexandria in 2004.
