Accident Victim Identified as Springfield Woman
The victim of yesterday’s fatal accident on U.S. Route 1 has been identified as Keona Gay, a 24-year-old Springfield woman.
The accident occurred on December 16, around 6:10 a.m., in the 2000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway in Alexandria. Investigation revealed that the victim was traveling south on Jefferson Davis Highway when her vehicle began to swerve. It appears that she lost control of the 1999 Ford Explorer, crossed over the median strip into the northbound lanes, and crashed into a tree. The victim, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Crash Reconstruction Team.
