Police Find for Missing Child;
Little Girl was Sleeping in Car When it was Stolen

A three-year-old girl was found unharmed in Arlington just over an hour after the car she was in was stolen in Alexandria.

At 6:34 p.m., Alexandria police were called to the 3100 block of Colvin Street when a woman reported that her car was stolen with her niece asleep inside. The woman had pulled into an auto repair shop and left the little girl in the car while she went inside the business. A few minutes later, her husband, who works at the business, saw the car being driven away by an unknown suspect.

Officers immediately began searching for the vehicle along the Duke Street corridor and other major roads. The Fairfax County police helicopter aided in the search.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., someone called police and reported that the child police were looking for was at the Rosslyn Metro station. Arlington police responded, located the little girl and notified Alexandria officers.

The child was unharmed and in good condition. She has been reunited with her family.

The stolen car has not been located. It is a 1996 gold Nissan Maxima with Virginia tags JEK 7598.
