Third Suspect Charged in Abduction

Alexandria police have formally charged a third suspect for Tuesday night’s armed abduction of a 55-year-old Alexandria man.

Frederick A. Baruday, 75, was formally charged last night with Abduction and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. Baruday, a resident of 203 Yoakum Parkway, #1622, in Alexandria was arrested after he was released from Inova Alexandria Hospital where he had been since his apprehension.

Two other suspects were arrested yesterday. David M. Kluttz, 37, of 203 Yoakum Parkway, #1704, in Alexandria, and Aubrey H. Berryman, 25, of 5601 Bristol Court in Fairfax County, were also charged with Abduction and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

On December 7, around 11:30 p.m., the three armed men forced their way into the victim’s home in the 400 block of Argyle Drive and abducted him. A short time later, police received calls from residents near the 200 block of Yoakum Parkway. Callers reported suspicious activity in the nearby woods. Police responded and located the victim in the woods. He was not seriously injured.

They also located Baruday who was immediately taken into custody. He complained of chest pains and was transported to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he remained, under police guard, until his release last night.

Note: Because police still need to interview additional witnesses, photos of the suspects are not being released at this time.
