Suspects Charged in Overnight Abduction

Alexandria police have charged two suspects and a third is in custody for the armed abduction of a 55-year-old Alexandria man.

David M. Klutz, 37, of 203 Yoakum Parkway, #1704, in Alexandria, and Aubrey H. Berryman, 25, of 5601 Bristol Court in Fairfax County have both been charged with Abduction and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. A third suspect, a 75-year-old Alexandria man, is in police custody at a local hospital but has not yet been formally charged.

On Tuesday, December 7, at approximately 11:30 p.m., three armed men posing as law enforcement officers forced their way into the victim’s home in the 400 block of Argyle Drive. They abducted the victim and after leaving the home, the victim’s wife called police and a search began.

A short time later, police received a number of calls from residents in the 200 block of Yoakum Parkway. Callers alerted police to suspicious activity occurring in a nearby wooded area. Police located the victim in the woods and he was not seriously injured.

They also located the 75-year-old suspect who was taken into custody. He reported chest pains when he was apprehended and was transported to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he remains under police guard. Klutz was taken into custody early this morning and Berryman was arrested this afternoon.

A motive for the abduction remains under investigation.

Note: Because police still need to interview additional witnesses, photos of the suspects are not being released at this time.
