Police Investigate an Armed Abduction

Alexandria police are investigating an armed abduction that occurred last night in the 400 block of Argyle Drive. The victim is believed to have been specifically targeted.

On Tuesday, December 7, at approximately 11:30 p.m., two armed men posing as law enforcement officers forced their way into a home on Argyle Drive and abducted the victim, a 55-year-old man. After the suspects left with the victim, the victim’s spouse called police and a search began.

A short time later, police received a number of calls from residents in the area of the Watergate at Landmark condominium complex in the 200 block of Yoakum Parkway. Callers alerted police to suspicious activity occurring in a nearby wooded area.

After searching the area, police located the abduction victim in the woods behind the condominium complex and apprehended a suspect. The suspect, a 75-year-old man, was taken into custody and transported to Inova Alexandria Hospital after complaining of having chest pains. The abduction victim was not seriously injured and was attended to by a medic unit on the scene. A few hours later, a second suspect, a 38-year-old man, was also located and taken into police custody. Criminal charges are pending for both suspects.
