Alexandria Police Investigate Robbery at Wachovia Bank

The Alexandria Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating an armed robbery that occurred today at the Wachovia Bank at 330 North Washington Street in Alexandria. There were no injuries.

At approximately 1:58 p.m., a suspect entered the bank, approached the teller and demanded money. The victim teller complied, and the suspect then fled from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his early 50s, approximately 5'8" to 5'9" tall and weighing 160 to 180 pounds. He was unshaven with a slight, salt-and-pepper beard growth. He was last seen wearing a dark knit cap, a heavy, dark grey coat, and dark pants. The suspect walked with an unusual gait.
