Police Seek Suspect in Robbery;
Man Caught on Tape Using Victim’s Credit Card

Alexandria police are seeking the identity of a man suspected in a street robbery last month. Shortly after the robbery, the man was captured by security cameras using the victim’s credit card. Police are releasing photos from the surveillance video with the hope that someone will recognize the suspect and contact detectives.

On October 25, around 9 p.m., a 24-year-old Alexandria man was walking in the 300 block of East Monroe Avenue when a suspect approached him. The suspect grabbed the victim and pressed an object the victim believed to be a gun against the victim’s side. The suspect then demanded the victim’s wallet and the victim complied. The suspect ran from the scene and was seen getting into a red, two-door car.

About 30 minutes later, the victim’s stolen credit card was used at a CVS in Oxon Hill, Md. The suspect was caught on the store’s security cameras as he entered the store and then used the card.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his 20s, 5-feet 11-inches tall, with a medium build. At the time of the robbery he was wearing dark clothing and a hood or hat. Anyone knowing the suspect’s identity is asked to contact Alexandria police at 703.838.4711.
