City of Alexandria Announces Holiday Schedule
For December 23, 24 and 31

Alexandria City government offices will be closed for the holidays on Thursday, Dec. 23, Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31.

City schools will be closed beginning on Dec. 22 and will remain closed through Dec. 31. Students will return to school on Monday, Jan. 3.

City libraries will be closed on Dec. 23, 24, 25, 26 and 31; and Jan. 1.

There will be regular residential trash and recycling collection on Dec. 23, 24 and 31.

All City of Alexandria recreation centers will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. On Dec. 26, the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 8 am to 7 pm. All other neighborhood recreation centers will be closed on Dec. 26. The Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, William Ramsay, Nannie J. Lee, Mt. Vernon, Patrick Henry and Charles Barrett recreation centers will open from 9 am to 6 pm on Dec. 31. The Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 am to 3 pm on Dec. 31. All recreation centers will be closed on Jan. 1. On Jan. 2, the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 8 am to 7 pm. All other neighborhood recreation centers will be closed on Jan. 2.

The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Dec. 23, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Dec.31 and Jan. 1.

DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Dec. 24, with service ending at 8 pm that day. There will be no service on Dec. 25. DASH will operate on a Saturday schedule on Dec. 31 and there will be no service on Jan.1. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Dec. 23, Dec. 24, and Dec. 31.

State Offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. All state offices will close at 1 pm on Dec. 23.
