Police Investigate a Shooting;
Alexandria Police Officer Commits Suicide
Alexandria police are investigating a suicide of one of their own officers. At approximately 1:00 a.m. this morning an Alexandria police officer, while off duty, shot and killed himself.
Police responded to the 4800 block of West Braddock Road and found an officer inside his police cruiser suffering from a gun shot wound. The officer, whose name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification, is a 34-year-old male who served six years with the Alexandria Police Department and six years previous with the Alexandria Sheriff’s Department. The officer was assigned to the Community Support Section.
