Police Locate Abducted Two-Year-Old;
Child in Good Condition, Charges Pending Against Suspect


Alexandria police have located two-year-old Ashley Montiel who was abducted by her non-custodial mother earlier this week. Ashley is in good condition and criminal charges are pending against the suspect, Mariel Aracely Montiel.

At 10:03 a.m. today, police responded to an apartment in the 5500 block of North Morgan Street after a caller contacted police and stated that she had Ashley there. Officers arrived on the scene and located both Ashley and the suspect.

Mariel Montiel, 27, of no fixed address, is facing Abduction and other criminal charges.

Ashley was abducted on Sunday, November 7, from her legal guardian at their home in the 1400 block of North Beauregard Street. The suspect saw Ashley’s photo in the news and this morning, contacted police and surrendered Ashley.
