City of Alexandria Partners with Other Jurisdictions
to Teach Residents How to Protect Streams

The City of Alexandria has partnered with Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE), Arlington County and the City of Falls Church to teach residents how to protect local streams through the Livable Neighborhood Water Stewardship Program. The program involves neighborhood residents forming teams of five to eight households and meeting for a four-meeting series over two to three months. During the meetings, team leaders recruit and guide members to discuss and take several actions that focus on water quality and water conservation.

ACE offers free team leadership training three times a year. The next Water Stewardship Leader Training class for team leaders will be held on Sunday, Oct. 17, from noon to 6 pm at the Fairlington Community Center, 3308 S. Stafford St., in Arlington. The City of Alexandria hopes its residents will turn out and embrace this program as a way to build neighborhood involvement and environmental stewardship.

For more information or to request an application, call the ACE office at 703.228.6427 or e-mail office@arlingtonenvironment.org.
