Public Invited to Comment on FY 2006 Budget
Public Hearing Scheduled for Oct. 16

The Alexandria City Council will conduct a public hearing on Oct. 16 to receive public comment on the upcoming Fiscal Year 2006 Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program. The public hearing will be held during the regularly scheduled Saturday public hearing, which begins at 9:30 am in the Council Chamber, 2nd floor City Hall, 301 King St. At the direction of the City Manager, staff has begun preparing the proposed FY 2006 budget which will be submitted to Council in early March of 2005. The Oct. 16 budget public hearing will be in addition to the traditional public hearing, which is held in April of each year, on the proposed submitted budget.

Early budget projections for FY 2006 reflect another challenging budget year. Alexandria residents and organizations are encouraged to present the needs and priorities for the budget and to hear the concerns of other organizations within the City.

Anyone wishing to speak should complete a speaker’s form before or at the hearing. These forms are available in the City Clerk’s Office, Room 2300, City Hall. Speaking requests can also be made directly to the City Clerk by email jackie.henderson@alexandriava.gov or by phone at 703.838.4500. Individuals with disabilities who require assistance or individuals needing special arrangements, such as translation services or language interpreters, to participate in the City Council meeting may call the City Clerk at 703l838.4500 (TTY/TDD 703.838.5056). A 48-hour notice is needed for special arrangements, so that the proper arrangements may be made.
