Alexandria Police Investigate Homicide;
Pizza Delivery Man Shot in Chest

Last night, at approximately 10:08 p.m., a pizza delivery man was shot in the chest and transported to Inova Fairfax County Hospital. The victim later died as a result of his gunshot wound.

Investigation revealed that the victim, a 47-year-old man, had just completed a pizza delivery to a business in the 200 block of North Fayette Street. He was returning to his vehicle when approached by a lone suspect who shot him. The suspect then fled on foot and was seen entering a black Subaru which left the area traveling west on Cameron Street.

A short time later, police were called to a report of a robbery that had occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. in the 800 block of South Lee Street. In this case, a 35-year-old female City resident was robbed at gunpoint. The victim had just arrived home and was about to enter her residence when an armed man approached her from behind. The suspect, described as a black male, forced the victim into her home and robbed her. The suspect then fled on foot.

Moments later, Fairfax County police observed a black Subaru and gave pursuit just south of the City on the George Washington Parkway. The vehicle first traveled south and then turned around and entered the City. The suspects, both black males, abandoned the vehicle in the 900 block of South Alfred Street and fled on foot. The suspects were eventually caught in the 300 block of North Saint Asaph Street and taken into police custody.

It is unknown at this time if these two men were responsible for the robbery, the homicide, or both offenses that had occurred within minutes of one another.

The victim, an Alexandria City resident, who was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m., has been identified as Musharaf Shah.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at (703) 838-4711.
