City of Alexandria Will Survey Residents
About Their Satisfaction With Services and Programs

The City of Alexandria is planning to survey residents this month to obtain their opinions regarding the quality of City government services and programs.
During the week of Sept. 13, The Center for Research and Public Policy, of Trumbull, CT, will conduct a telephone survey of 1,000 City residents asking about their quality of living in Alexandria, the quality of City services, facilities and infrastructure and major changes they feel need to be made in these areas, and the local issues most important to them. The telephone survey is not a sales call. All responses will be kept confidential.
“This survey is part of the Council’s continuing effort to improve City government. Its primary purpose is to tell us where the City may be falling short in our delivery of services, programs, and pubic infrastructure to residents,” said City Manager Phil Sunderland. “Residents responses that identify areas needing improvements will result in actions designed to produce those improvements. Future surveys will be used to determine whether those improvements have been achieved.”
The survey includes questions about the quality of City departments, government facilities, communication with residents, emergency preparedness and community needs.
The telephone calls will be made by trained professionals from The Center for Research and Public Policy to residents throughout the City with a goal to obtain a representative sample of males and females over age 18 of various races and ethnicities. The surveyors are prepared to conduct the survey in any language as needed.
At the conclusion of the survey, The Center of Research and Public Policy will compile and analyze the results and present a report to the City Council later this fall. Results of the survey will be published in an upcoming issue of FYI Alexandria and posted on the City web site.
