$6000 Reward Offered in Bike Path Rape;
U.S. Marshals, Alexandria Police Seek Fugitive Rigoberto Ramos

More than one month after police identified Rigoberto Ramos as one of two men who raped a woman along a bike path, the U.S. Marshals and Alexandria Crime Solvers are offering a $6000 reward for information that leads to his capture.

Ramos, 23, is wanted for the July 2 rape of a 22-year-old Alexandria woman in Holmes Run Park. Ramos and 28-year-old Jose Daniel Bonilla of Fairfax County forced the woman into a brushy area and raped her at gunpoint. The next week police identified both suspects and arrested Bonilla, but Ramos remains at large.

Rigoberto Antonio Ramos, who is known as Ismael Alberto Murcia, is a white Hispanic male, 5'8" tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is known on the streets by the nickname “Barbita” for his style of beard, but police believe he may have shaved his beard to alter his appearance. He has a tattoo on his chest of crying eyes with Spanish writing and two on his back, one of praying hands and one of Jesus Christ.

Ramos has a history of weapons violations and is considered armed and dangerous. He is known to frequent the Route 1, Culmore, Prince William Plaza and Columbia Pike areas of Northern Virginia, but he may have left the region and may now be in Florida or California.

Anyone with information about Ramos or his whereabouts is urged to contact Alexandria police at 703.838.4444. Callers can remain anonymous, and if information they provide leads to an arrest, they are eligible for a reward of up to $6000. (The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward of $5000 and Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1000.)

Note: Photos of Ramos and his tattoos appear below.
