Woman Dies After Pool Accident

The woman who was pulled from a pool Friday afternoon died this morning at Inova Alexandria Hospital. Anita Osei, a 22-year-old Alexandrian, was pronounced dead at 8:44 a.m. today.

Yesterday, at 3:49 p.m., Alexandria police were called to a private pool at 5340 Holmes Run Parkway for a possible drowning. Medics attempted to resuscitate the victim and transported her to Inova Alexandria Hospital where she died today.

Investigation indicates that the victim, who lived at the condominium complex, had been swimming in the pool. Children in the pool saw her on the floor of the pool and alerted the lifeguard and other adults. The lifeguard and two residents dived into the pool and pulled her out. They performed CPR until medics arrived.

The Medical Examiner will decide whether to perform an autopsy. There is nothing to indicate foul play and police are investigating this case as an accident.
