Police Investigate Near Drowning at Private Pool

Alexandria police were called to a near drowning today at 3:49 p.m. at a pool at 5340 Holmes Run Parkway. Medics attempted to resuscitate the victim, a 22-year-old Alexandria woman, and transported her to Inova Alexandria Hospital. She is currently in critical condition and on a respirator.

Initial investigation indicates that the victim, who lives at the condominium complex, had been swimming in the pool. Children in the pool saw her on the floor of the pool and alerted the lifeguard and other adults. The lifeguard and two residents dived into the pool and pulled her out. They performed CPR until medics arrived.

There is nothing to indicate foul play and police are investigating this as an accident.
