Get Out in the Sun for August Fun

Who said August was a slow month? There are many fun activities going on in the City of Alexandria during August. All events are free unless otherwise noted.

Concerts:

• FAN-FAN: Music at Twilight: Thursday, Aug. 5, 7 pm. Fort Ward Park.
• Alexandria Harmonizers: Friday, Aug. 6, 7:30 pm. Market Square.
• Rec“creation” Performing Arts Showcase Lunch Bunch: Wednesday, Aug. 11, 12:15 pm. Market Square.
• All Scottish Night: Music at Twilight: Thursday, Aug. 12, 7 pm. Fort Ward Park.
• Alexandria Citizens Band: Friday, Aug. 13, 7:30 pm. Market Square.
• Supper Under the Stars: Orlando Phillips. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 6:30-8:30 pm. King Street Gardens Park. $25 in advance, $30 at the gate.

Festivals:

• Friendship Firehouse Festival: Saturday, Aug. 7, 9 am - 2 pm. 107 S. Alfred St.
• Irish Festival: Saturday, Aug. 7, 12-7 pm. Waterfront Park.
• Cambodian Day Festival: Sunday, Aug. 15, 11 am - 6 pm. Ben Brenman Park.
• American Indian Festival: Saturday, Aug. 21, 1-6 pm. Market Square.
