Police Arrest One Suspect, Seek Second Suspect in
Alexandria Bike Path Rape

Alexandria police have arrested one suspect and are searching for a second suspect in the July 2 attack of a woman on a bike path.

On Friday, July 9, police arrested Jose Daniel Bonilla, a 28-year-old man, and charged him with Rape. He is being held without bond at the Alexandria jail.

Police have identified the second suspect as Rigoberto Ramos, a 23-year-old Prince William man. A warrant for his arrest has been issued for Rape. Police are appealing to the public for assistance. Ramos is considered armed and extremely dangerous. He has a history of weapons violations.

Ramos, who is known on the streets as “Barbito,” also uses the name Ismael Alberto Murcia. He is known to frequent the Route 1 corridor, as well as Prince William Plaza, the Culmore-Falls Church area, and Columbia Pike.

Ramos is described as a white Hispanic male with dark hair, 5'8", and 180 pounds. He may have recently shaved his beard. He has tattoos on his chest and two on his back. He may be driving a green 1996 Honda Civic hatchback with Virginia license plates JHD-5704.

Bonilla is a resident of 3307 Beechcraft Drive in Fairfax County. A photo of Bonilla is not available to the public at this time as detectives still need to interview additional witnesses.

Both suspects are responsible for the sexual assault of a 22-year-old Alexandria woman at gunpoint. She was walking on the Holmes Run path when the men approached her, forced her into a brush area and assaulted her.

Anyone knowing Ramos’s whereabouts is asked to call Alexandria police at 703.838.4444.

Note: Photos of Ramos, both with and without a beard, and an image of the vehicle appear below.
