| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 7, 2004 PIO 171-04/mr City of Alexandria Offers Wealth of Information for Free Answers to questions about Alexandria City services and programs are as close as a phone call to the Alexandria Department of Human Services’ Information and Referral Service. The service provides information about existing assistance programs and available services, as well as referrals to appropriate agencies and resources who may be able to help. This personalized assistance is free to Alexandria residents and operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The service can also help coordinate needed services and assist with advocacy. A partial list of topics for which information and referral is available include: Abortion, adoption, career counseling, child care, day care, drug abuse treatment, employment, education, family planning, foster care, legal aid, medicaid, social security, and youth services.
