The City of Alexandria is Hiring

The City of Alexandria is advertising several job openings and has made it easy for people to apply. Job openings and applications are available on the City’s web site, www.alexandriava.gov, or in the City’s Personnel Services Department, City Hall, Room 2500, 301 King St., Alexandria, Va.

To apply for any advertised position, applicants have two options: Print an application form from the City’s web site and take it or mail it the Alexandria Personnel Services Department, or complete the form electronically and submit it online.

Except for holidays, all City job vacancies are advertised every third Monday for 14 calendar days. Advertising sources include: the City of Alexandria's Job Opportunities Bulletin, the City of Alexandria's 24-hour Jobline (703-838-4422), the Sunday edition of the Washington Post (classified under "municipal”) and this web site. The City may also expand regular recruitment activities to include special publications.

The City does not accept a resume, or other document, for processing unless it is received with a completed City of Alexandria Application for Employment. Attachments to the application should be related to the position being applied for and may include a cover letter, resume, certificates, diplomas, letters of recommendation, etc.
