Police Release Composite Sketches of Suspects in Bike Path Attack

Alexandria detectives are releasing sketches of two suspects wanted for the Friday afternoon attack on a bike path. The two men are being sought for sexually assaulting a 22-year-old Alexandria woman at gunpoint along Holmes Run between North Latham and North Pickett streets.

The first suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 27 to 30 years old, 5'7" to 5'10" tall, 180 to 200 pounds, with a stocky build. He has black hair, wavy on the top and shorter on the sides. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue denim shorts.

The second suspect is described as a white Hispanic male with a darker complexion than the first suspect. He is also 27 to 30 years old, 5'7" to 5'10" tall, 180 to 200 pounds, with a stocky build. He has short, coarse black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue New England Patriots mesh jersey and blue denim shorts.

They fled from the scene in a black, two-door Honda Civic coupe. Witnesses describe it as a 1997 to 1999 model with white wheels, a rear spoiler and clear tail light covers.

Detectives urge anyone who recognizes these suspects or observes this vehicle to call Alexandria police at 703.838.4444.

Police presence has been increased throughout Holmes Run Park but police encourage walkers, joggers and cyclists to be extra vigilant and to report all suspicious activity.
