First Thursdays Bring Entertainment and Shopping to Mt. Vernon Avenue

Every first Thursday of the month throughout the summer, Mt. Vernon Avenue will come alive with entertainment and shopping. The “First Thursdays on the Avenue” will be held from 6 pm to 9 pm on July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 2. Businesses along the avenue will stay open late to showcase their products and Alexandria’s music group Lump Dog will perform July 1 and Sept. 2.

The First Thursdays Themes are:

July 1 Red, White and Blue: A nation’s celebration on the avenue

Aug. 5 Lights, Camera, Fashion: Beauty and fashion on the avenue

Sept. 2 Mind, Body and Soul: Health and wellness on the avenue

The Potomac West Business Association (PWBA) began “First Thursdays” 4 years ago to give neighbors an opportunity to get to know local businesses better.
