Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services
For Sunday, July 4 and Monday, July 5 in Observance of Independence Day

Alexandria City government offices will be closed on Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day. All City recreation centers will be closed Sunday, July 4 and Monday, July 5, except for Chinquapin Park Recreation Center, which will be open from 8 am to 3 pm Sunday and 8 am to 6 pm Monday.

City libraries will be closed on Sunday, July 4 and Monday, July 5.

DASH bus service will operate regularly on Sunday, July 4 and on a Sunday schedule on Monday, July 5.

State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on July 5.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking limits on July 5. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Monday, July 5.

Alexandria will celebrate Independence Day and Alexandria’s birthday on Saturday, July 10, 4-10 pm at Oronco Bay Park. The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra will perform, followed by fireworks. For more information about the birthday party, call the special events hotline, 703.883.4686
