Have Fun and Help the Fund for Alexandria’s Child

The Advisory Council for The Fund for Alexandria’s Child invites the public to join the Caribbean Charity Jam! aboard the Cherry Blossom, a luxurious refurbished paddle boat. The event will help raise funds for children in foster care and at risk of abuse or neglect. The Caribbean Charity Jam! takes place Thursday, June 24, beginning with a cocktail reception at the dock from 6:30 until 7:30 pm and a cruise on the Potomac from 7:30 until 9:30 pm. Tickets are $45 per person (for adults only) and the cost is tax deductible. The Cherry Blossom is docked at the foot of King Street in Old Town Alexandria, behind the Torpedo Factory Art Center.

The Jam! will feature Caribbean cuisine by Mango Mike’s. Alexandria Pastry and Caf, Bittersweet, and St. Elmo’s will provide sweets and William Harrison Imports will provide beverages. Steel drummer Michael George will perform. Guests can enjoy the limbo contest and win the raffle for weekend retreats, electronics, cash and other prizes.

The Fund provides enriching and rewarding activities for children in foster care or at risk of abuse and neglect. Social workers who know the children well will administer The Fund and put the money where it is needed the most. The Fund provides Boy and Girl Scout uniforms and dues, sports equipment, karate or art lessons, class field trips, prom dresses, graduation fees, community college books, and other important items or experiences.
