Alexandria Recognized as One of the Best Workplaces for Commuters

The City of Alexandria has been selected as one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters in the Greater Washington Region as part of a new initiative through the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The program honors employers who offer a commuter benefit or a telework program.

The initiative is offered as a way to encourage employers who help reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality by giving options to the single-occupant vehicle driver.

The award is based on the positive contribution that the City makes to the environment through its Transit Incentive Benefit Program administered by the Office of Transit Services and Programs and through the availability of lockers and shower facilities for bicyclists.

The City’s upcoming Pilot Telework program for City employees is another indication that Alexandria is proactive about providing solutions in managing community road use.
