Alexandria Police Investigate a Double Shooting;
Juvenile Victim in Critical Condition

Alexandria police are investigating a double shooting that occurred last night at approximately 10:08 p.m. One of the victims, a 17-year-old Oakton youth was shot once in the upper torso. He was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he remains in critical condition. The second victim, a 26-year-old male of no fixed address, was grazed in the head. He was taken to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he was treated for his non-life threatening injury.

Investigation revealed that a silver colored newer model Honda with tinted
windows entered the Cameron Commons apartment complex in the 4300 block of Duke Street shortly after 10:00 p.m. The car drove slowly to the dead end, turned around and someone from inside the car began to discharge a semi-automatic weapon at another car parked nearby. The victim vehicle, a red 1998 Plymouth four-door Expresso, was occupied by four individuals. One of the bullets entered the car and struck the victim in the upper torso. The suspect vehicle then left the apartment complex with a suspect still discharging a weapon. Several shots were fired and one of these bullets grazed the second victim, who was standing nearby, in the head.

A motive has not been established. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at (703) 838-4444 or (703) 838-4711.
