CITY COUNCIL SCHEDULES COMMUNITY FORUM
ON DRAFT STRATEGIC PLAN

The Alexandria City Council will hold a Community Forum on its draft Strategic Plan for the City on two evenings, Tuesday, May 11 and Thursday, May 20. The meetings will be held at 7 p.m. at the Lee Center Exhibit Hall, 1108 Jefferson St.

Since last fall, the Council has engaged in a strategic planning project intended to produce its vision for the City’s future, which includes a listing of priority goals and objectives, and an action agenda to help achieve the vision.

Members of the community are invited to participate in the forum to provide the Council with perspective and feedback. The Community Forum will be organized as a series of concurrent focus groups. Each group will be assigned a moderator, and the participants will be asked to review and discuss the Executive Summary of the Strategic Plan. At the first session on May 11, participants will discuss the vision and the goals and objectives of the plan. The May 20 session will focus on the action agenda intended to achieve the proposed vision. Community members are encouraged to attend both sessions.

The results of the Community Forum will be incorporated into a final report that will be provided to City Council in June, when it is expected to hold a public hearing on the Strategic Plan.

Community members who wish to participate in the forum are asked to call the City Clerk’s Office at 703.838.4550 to sign up for the Community Forum.

Copies of the Executive Summary of the Strategic Plan are available on the City’s web site, in the City Clerk’s Office and Office of Citizen Assistance in City Hall, and in the Alexandria Libraries.
