Alexandria Awards Employees for Public Service

The City of Alexandria honored more than 300 employees for their years of public service on April 19. The Annual Employees Public Service Awards Program is sponsored by the City Council and the City Manager in recognition and appreciation of the outstanding public service provided by City employees to the people of Alexandria.

Employees honored for their public service for the year ending 2003 included James L. Oakes from the Police Department and Barbara J. Allen from Real Estate Assessments for 40 years of service to the community. C. M. Leischner from the Fire Department, Ned C. Thompson from the Police Department, John L. Griggs from the Office of the Sheriff, and Geoffrey S. Byrd from Transportation and Environmental Service were honored for 35 years of public service. Other employees were honored for 30, 25, 20, 15, 10 and 5 years of service.
