In celebration of National Public Health Week, April 4-10, 2004, the Alexandria Health Department will recognize the student winners of the Third Annual Alexandria Public Health Week Poster Contest. The awards ceremony will be held Thursday, April 1, at 6 p.m., in the Vola Lawson Lobby of Alexandria City Hall, 301 King Street, Alexandria, VA.

Alexandria students were awarded prizes for posters that best illustrated this year’s theme, "Good Nutrition for Better Health!" Nearly 100 entries were received from students ages 11 – 14, from Francis C. Hammond Middle School, George Washington Middle School, and City of Alexandria Recreation Centers.

Invited guests include contest winners and their families, Mayor William D. Euille, the Honorable Members of City Council, and staff from the Alexandria Health Department, the Virginia Department of Health, Alexandria City Public Schools and School Board, the Alexandria Youth Policy Commission, and the Alexandria Public Health Advisory Commission.

After the awards ceremony, a selection of the submitted posters will be on display at the Alexandria Health Department, 517 N. Saint Asaph Street, Old Town, Alexandria, throughout Public Health Week, April 4-10, 2004.
