Public Meetings Planned for FY 2005 City Budget The City Manager will present his Fiscal Year 2005 budget proposals to the City Council during the legislative meeting on March 9, at 7 pm in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 301 King St. The proposals for the FY 2005 Operating Budget and the proposed FY 2005 - 2010 Capital Improvement Program will be posted on the City web site March 10. Copies will also be available in the Office of Management and Budget, City Hall. The City Council is scheduled to adopt the FY 2005 operating and capital budgets on May 3. Opportunity for public input in the development of the FY 2005 budget began Nov. 25, when 29 residents testified at a Council public hearing. Prior to the public hearing, City staff testified that the preliminary budget outlook for FY 2005 was for a $5.5 million shortfall (approximately 1.3 percent) between revenues under existing laws and tax rates and expenditure increases to maintain current services and policies. A series of budget work sessions and public hearings are planned before the City Council is scheduled to adopt the FY 2005 budget on May 3. All budget meetings listed below are open to the public and will be held in the Council Workroom or Council Chamber in City Hall, 301 King St. .
