Registration Underway for the Next Community Emergency Response Team

The Alexandria Fire Department is currently registering people for the next Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. The next CERT class is scheduled for Jan. 20, 26, Feb. 2, 9, 17, 23, 25 and 28. Students learn about disaster preparedness, disaster fire safety, disaster medical Operations, light search and rescue, terrorism, disaster psychology and simulation.

Six Alexandria residents participated in the first Alexandria Fire Department CERT training held in October. The students extinguished a fire with an extinguisher, searched through a simulated collapse and extricated two victims, and provided triage.
