City of Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services for the
Mon., Jan. 19 Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday
State Offices also Closed on Fri., Jan. 16, for Lee-Jackson Day

City government offices will be closed on Mon., Jan.19, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday. City Hall will be open from 1-3 pm for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Media Presentation & Exhibit in the Vola Lawson Lobby.

The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Sat., Jan. 17, and Jan. 19.

There will be no residential trash and recycling collection on Jan. 19. All collection services will be delayed by one day the week of Jan. 19. For example, residential trash and recycling services regularly scheduled for Tues., Jan. 20, will occur on Wed., Jan. 21.

City Schools will be closed on Jan. 19.

On Jan.19, the Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, Nannie J. Lee, Mount Vernon, and William Ramsay recreation centers will be open from 9 am to 6 pm. The Charles Barrett and Patrick Henry recreation centers will be closed on Jan. 19. Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 am to 6 pm on Jan. 19.

City Libraries will be closed on Jan. 19.

DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Jan. 19.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Jan. 16, and Jan. 19. All other parking regulations will be in effect. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Jan. 16, and Jan. 19.

State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Jan. 16 and Jan. 19.
