Alexandria Police Investigate a Critical Accident;
Pedestrian Struck Crossing Street


The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a critical accident at the intersection of Duke Street and Callahan Drive which occurred tonight at approximately 5:38 p.m. The victim, an adult male believed to be in his 40s, was struck as he attempted to cross Callahan Drive.

The motorist who struck the victim, a 43-year-old female and resident of Fairfax County, was driving her 1992 silver four-door Ford Escort at the time of the accident. She was traveling from westbound Duke Street onto Callahan Drive. Medic units arrived on the scene and attended to the victim. The victim was in serious condition as a result of his injuries. He was flown by helicopter to Washington Hospital Center where he is listed in critical condition.

The Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and began their investigation. The exact cause and circumstances surrounding the accident are still under investigation and no charges have been placed.
