The death of Nancy Dunning has been ruled a homicide following an autopsy today by the state Medical Examiner’s Office. Mrs. Dunning, the 56-year-old woman found dead inside her Alexandria home yesterday, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Alexandria police were called to the Dunning residence in the 200 block of West Mount Ida Avenue at 12:36 p.m. on Friday after a family member called 911. Police and medics arrived and found Mrs. Dunning deceased inside.
