Alexandria Community Service Board
Receives Accreditation

The Alexandria Community Service Board’s (CSB) mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse programs received a three-year accreditation by CARF, The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, for the care of consumers and dedication to the community.

In order to receive the CARF accreditation, the programs and CSB administration had to comply with strict, international guidelines. The accredited programs include the Outpatient Substance Abuse Services and Intensive Day Treatment, Jail Services, Case Management, Emergency Services, Vocational Services, Prevention Services, Home Based Mental Health Services, Parent Infant Education Program, and Clubhouse programs.

The CARF summary commends the CSB for its strategic planning process that involves collaboration among members of the Board, management, staff, and input from the consumers and stakeholders. It also compliments the organization for its training, particularly in the areas of new employee orientation, ethical boundaries and cultural competency.
